What we collect, what we do with it, and what we deliberately don’t do. Short version: this site runs on almost no personal data, and we like it that way.
Who we are
5v5.global is operated by Superfly Games, based in the UK, and we are the data controller for anything described here. Reach us any time at dan@superflygames.com.
What we collect when you enter a team
A team entry is about a company, not a person: the company URL you give us, the team name we derive from it, your tagline, kit colours, logo, buy-in amount, and a Stripe payment reference. There are no user accounts and we never see your card details; payment happens entirely on Stripe’s pages, and any email you give at checkout lives with Stripe, not with us.
Player names are optional flavour. If you name real colleagues, only do so with their blessing; we’ll remove any name on request from the person concerned.
What is public by design
The league is a public stage. Your team’s name, URL, logo, kit, tagline, player names, power, ranking, join date, and link-click tally are all shown on the site; that visibility is the product. Payment references and amounts per transaction are not public (your team’s total power is).
Cookies and tracking
We set no tracking cookies. Our visitor counter is cookieless: it works from a salted identifier on our server that rotates every day, stores nothing on your device, and cannot recognise you from one day to the next. Your browser locally keeps a few strictly functional things only: a half-finished entry form so a trip to Stripe doesn’t eat your kit design, and your analytics choice.
For product analytics we use Mixpanel to see which parts of the league get used. Where consent is required we ask first, and declining changes nothing. Analytics data is never sold or shared beyond the processors below.
Who touches the data
A short roster: Stripe processes payments. Mixpanel processes product analytics. Google serves our web fonts and the favicon lookups that put company logos on shirts, which means your browser makes requests to Google when pages load. unavatar.io serves the profile pictures of teams entered as an X account, the same way. Our hosting provider runs the server. That’s the whole team sheet.
How long we keep things
Team data stays as long as the team is in the league, and cup records stay as part of league history. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Aggregate visitor statistics are anonymous and kept indefinitely.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, subject to the records the law makes us keep. Email us and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re unhappy with how we handle it, you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we’ll note it here with a new date.
