Rules & terms

The plain-English version of how 5v5.global works and what you agree to when you put a team on the pitch. It’s short; please read it.

What 5v5.global is

5v5.global is an entertainment and advertising product. Companies field a football team, and once a day every funded team enters a single-elimination cup. The champion’s name, kit, logo, and a link to their website fly on our front page until the next kick-off. That front-page banner, and your team’s standing listing in the power rankings, is what your money buys. Nothing else is on offer.

What you are buying

Payments buy team power, from $5. Power is permanent: it is never spent, never expires, and counts in every cup from the next kick-off onward. Power sets your seed in the rankings and your odds in every match. It is an advertising purchase, not a stake, a wager, a deposit, or a balance: it cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or converted back to money.

How matches are decided

Every match is a transparent raffle. Each dollar of a team’s power is one ticket; both teams’ tickets go into one pile and a single ticket is drawn to pick the winner. More power means better odds and only better odds: the favourite loses sometimes, and that is the game. The draws are provably fair: when the field locks we publish a cryptographic commitment to every result, and when the cup ends we publish the seed and full workings of every draw so anyone can verify nothing changed in between. The animated matches are a dramatisation of results already decided at lock.

Who gets a team

A team represents a real company, product, or public figure, and its URL should lead straight there: a homepage, a product page, a public profile. If a visitor clicking your team’s name would land somewhere that tells them who you are, you’re on the team sheet.

Some things never make the squad. Invitations to group chats of any kind (Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, and the rest) are off the pitch: this is a league of companies, not a chat directory. The same goes for adult sites and anything sexually explicit. And your link must be the destination itself, in plain form: we cut query strings from every URL at entry (so tracking, referral, and affiliate links lose their tail), and teams fronting for a link shortener can be shown a straight red card.

Your team, logo, and players

By entering a URL you confirm you have the right to promote that company and use its name and logo. Team names, taglines, and player names must not be offensive, misleading, or infringe anyone’s rights. We reserve the right to refuse any entry and to remove any team from the league at any time, at our sole discretion and without having to justify the decision. If we refuse a team at entry we will refund that payment; if we remove a team because you broke these rules, we do not.

Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details. All purchases are final and non-refundable.

What we promise, and what we don’t

We promise the draws are fair, verifiable, and weighted exactly as described. We do not promise impressions, clicks, traffic, or that your team will ever win the cup, and a champion’s banner is placement, not our endorsement of their company. We aim to run a cup every day but do not guarantee uninterrupted service; if we ever shut the league down for good, we will say so plainly on the site with reasonable notice.

Cookies and analytics

We keep it light. Your browser stores a few strictly functional things (an unfinished entry form, your analytics choice). Our own visitor counter is cookieless: it works from a salted, daily-rotating hash kept on our server, stores nothing on your device, and cannot follow you from one day to the next. Where consent is required we ask before enabling product analytics (Mixpanel), which helps us see how the league is used; nothing is sold or shared, and declining changes nothing about how the site works. Payments happen on Stripe’s own pages under their privacy notices.

Liability and changes

To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the claim arose. We may update these terms; material changes will be noted on this page with a new date, and continuing to power a team after that means you accept them.
